Well, heres a usual christian apologetic arguement for once. (although its abit exaggerated.. can't be helped la) At least the believers in such have their views respected and tolerated, like every other believer who is nicely housed in this diverse world of many ideas, lol.

About five years ago, when my Dad shook his head at my not knowing who certain authors and 'important' people were, my justification was that - I cared about the ideas and the concepts, not the people who created them.

But soon enough, with the very nature of how education was like, I found that it was needed to consider the persons behind the ideas. The world did think that associating the ideas with the people were important - and yes, they are a large part of the context by which the idea is created anyway. Still, I found worth in concepts rather than the people. Not that the latter was just a mere shell and channel of the thoughts to be conveyed, I did associate much esteemed psychology, emotion and other forms of constructs unto such a species. However, there was soon the inevitable future realisations of what persons really were, and how relevant they were besides the cold and dry constructs that the academic knowledges built up. When thoughts that chasing the academica for academic sake was possibly a bit selfish since it only invovled hot air and wasted paper - no changed lives.

If changed lives were the thing to matter, the knowledge to be expressed need not reach the vocabulary of the exclusive thinkers - and to come with such, the emotional appreciation of something need not be so deeply analysed. Things could be simple, like they always are. Yet, its only when one realises the simplicity that he does know how it is to be grappled with in his complex terms. Even when it concerns other people.
